Spanking a kid is spanking a kid. It will happen. When it is wrong is when that is taken to far. Speaking as a person that was abused as a child I can tell you there is a difference in when you are being spanked and beaten. A complete difference. One thing I will say though is that mental abuse is far worse than physical in my opinion. Sometimes that stuff just gets in your head and bothers the kid sooo much. I speak only from what I have delt with when I was a kid...
